147 "check active"

Hello guys I have bought my first alfa and to say I'm smitten is an understatment. I have a quick question when I put my ignition key into the car and turn it (before starting the car) I get the message flash up on the dash " check active". Do I need to worry and what's causing it??

Kind regards jon

You would have more to worry about if it DIDN'T do it !!!!.......

As the other Guys have said, its perfectly normal, and a good sign too !!!!!........

My 147 Selspeed -01 always displays "Check Active" at ignition but it never (Ive never seen it!) displays OK. Is this something to worry about or is it just another one of those Italian quirks?

Mine is the same, i think if all is ok it goes off, if there is a problem is tells you. Mine says number plate light failure from time to time.

Apparently its best to leave it to do the checks before you start the engine.

Mine sometimes says 'OK' and sometimes it doesn't. If I start it and immediately turn it off and restart then it says 'OK' on the restart.

I've never seen the 'OK', but do wait before starting the engine. Not necessarily for the check-routine, but for the fuelpomp. So I put the ignition on, then my seatbelt and then start the engine.

I just get in and turn the key and drive.
Can't be bothered to wait for the check active crap to finish.

Brio baby!
