I have Alfa 156 2.0TS Selespeed. This winter I experienced a problem,
revs goes up when shifting. It looks a lot like described here:
Alfa Romeo Selespeed - during gear shift car revs
I don't know about the smell thought. It goes like following:
When gears are shifted (doesn't matter up or down, happen in both manual
and automatic modes) and the gas pedal is pressed, engine would rev up
as if I was driving manual gearbox and pressed clutch while holding the gas.
It helps to switch to manual and release the gas before shifting, then
wait about two seconds and then press the gas again.
"Reving" happens immediately after the gear is shifted as well as when
gas is pressed too soon after the shift.
It happen only twice to me so far, both when car was exposed to some cold
weather over night (-10..-12 C), and went away on its own after couple of
minutes of driving. This makes me confused as I cannot really show anything
to mechanic, and I'm afraid they wouldn't help me or will try to ask for
more than it actually cost (I live in Switzerland and any repair cost a
Can anyone give me some hint on what could be the problem and what should
I do about it? I ignored the problem first time it appeared, but now I'm
