Oil leak 2.4 JTD 20v

I was just celebrating the first month without a personal contribution towards my local Alfa specialists' financial safety, when my Alfa (2003 2.4 JTD 20v SW) decided to hit me with an oil leak. It's not so much yet, but I'm going to have it checked ASAP. Any good places where to start looking?
If it makes any difference, I was having a loud turbo whistle since getting the car (around 1800-2000 RPM), but the local indie said "it's just a bit louder than normal, sir", while the dealer came back with the usual "you must replace the turbo" line (with a 50% markup on the price as well).
Is there any chance the two are connected, i.e. is any of the turbo-related pipes likely to crack and generate the whistle AND the oil leak at the same time?

Mechanic called back and (via a translator) he said the leak is coming from "something which warms up the oil before it goes into the engine, something between the oil filter and the engine itself". The guy translating this (as I don't speak the local language) has no idea about cars.
Is this BS or there actually is a part doing this (I don't have ePER or eLearn at hand to check)?
