I think there is more to being an authorised trader than what you are all referring to.
I could be wrong here, but I thought you needed public liability insurance and to be a registered business etc...
Anyhow lets not turn this into another Smaky was right Smaky was wrong thread. We have enough of them floating around on here
If people are paying you to fix their cars you should have public liability insurance full stop. If a car crashes as a result of a fault in your work and it results in a 15 car pile up on the M6, you might find a few solicitors are eager to speak to you.

I'd heard that he was planning on coming back and that he was going to pay to be an authorised trader (and therefore get away with pretty much anything) ... but then I thought it was ianfm that said that so I might just be making it up
