Hi, I finally got round to getting FiatECUScan and a VAG (KKL) cable and got hooked up tonight no probs, its a really good piece of software and works really well! recommended!
Anyway, no fault codes, all sensors/items returning values and all the actuator tests worked (lots of noises when they were supposed to etc..). Phew!
I mainly got this to check out my temperature gauge readings which are not correct, I put a new thermostat in (re-used old sensor) and it gets up to 90 from cold start, then the fans kick in and it drops to about 73 approx and thats it, hardly moves above this. In slow crawling traffic it goes to 90 again but when on open road again drops the 70/73/ again. So i got fiatecuscan on the case and here are the results:-
Gauge is constantly 8-10C degrees less than the ECU value on fiatecuscan. When the gauge finally gets to 90/91/92C the fans kick in and the ECU value on fiatecuscan is always 97 or 97.5. Any time I heard the fans kick in the software said 97C and the gauge said 90/91. The fans stopped when the software said approx 80, the gauge said approx 70, so about 10C out every time. I let the process repeat about 5 times and it was on the button consistently.
Is the gauge up the left?
Is the sensor on the thermostat broke?
Is fiatecuscan temp value correct? If so, is it normal for the fans to kick in at 97C ?
Many Thanks guys!
