What would you do thread 2.4JTD or 1.8TS
Right guys this is a “What would you do thread!”
I currently have a 2000 2.4 JTD 10v (SP2) with 124000 miles on the clock with the following issues
Squeaky rear suspension
Squeaky front suspension
Knocking front suspension
Shocks have more bounce than a fair ground castle
Rear passenger window not working
Airbag light on
Knackered tensioner on engine (really noisy)
Radiator needs replacing
Brake peadle goes soft if you keep your foot on the peddle
Problem with turbo (injector light on at 3000 rpm) could be one of many things.
Air con does not work
Cracked front bumper
Small crease in bonnet
Front grill missing
Fog light broken
Key fob for remote central locking buggered.
I think that is it now.
I have got a chance to buy a very tidy looking 2001 1.8TS veloce with 61000 with full leather that looks in really good condition, every panel is straight and all electrics working. The only downside is that it is being sold as spare or repairs due to the engine being goosed due to over heating.
I was going to buy it to swap all of the cosmetic parts on to mine (always wanted leather) and then sell the other bits of to fund the mechanical repairs on the JTD, I am now starting to think that I am being really stupid an in fact I should flog the JTD for enough money to replace the engine on the 1.8TS and just run that.
I originally bought the JTD for its economy but at the moment mostly doing short trips and in the cold weather the thing barely heats up and that is with a new working thermostat. I cant drive it to its full potential due to the turbo problem. I use to have a Primera GT and really miss the performance and handling, the wife and kids are embarrassed with the JTD due to the noise of the ratting engine and constant noisy suspension.
So guys what would you do?
