Ok il try and explaine the precode bit. The red code 2 keys use a phillips crypto id44 chip.
These get used buy several manufacturers. The information held on these chips is broken down into blocks. The first set of these blocks hold information specific to the car manufacturer (the precode). The second is encrypted part this part is programmed to the chip during programming to the car and is the part that is locked and prevents the chip from being re-used
the final part is a random code.
Keys after this use a Megamos id48 chip the same sort of layout as above only the precode is specific to that vehicle. The only way of getting this precode is to either ordering new keys from alfa with it already loaded or to extract the information from the immobilisers memory and create new chips from that.
Having said that my references have some conflicting information. It would appear that some of the black keyed cars also used the phillips chip for a while. If you can open up your key and check which chip is inside. If its a rectangular shape with pcf 7935 written on it then its phillips and i can supply you a chip off the shelf to either fit in a blank or if yoou want a second hand remote if its a small glass capsule then its megamos and id need the immobiliser to make one. Going to go over to Rusper Alfa later see if i can get hold of some keys and immo boxes to check this out.
awesome, let me know how you get on to the trip to alfa..
Chris, has very kindly offered me his blank key for sale, however chris is a little unsure if the key has been pre coded, and to send it to me in Norway and then find out its it has been coded (if it has) is an obvious pain in the bum
, however if chrisses key is blank, or i can change the chip in it through you then i am happy, i can buy a chip from you, the key from chris and alfa in norway will cut the key and program it for 80 pounds
then i am laughing
one question, if my key inside (after i open it) is a changable chip, and you say i can use a second hand car key, then how would i get around the key itself thats already cut.....? or am i just confusing the subject?
OOOhh and just to let you all know why i am doing this what might seam the hard way... here is why
Alfa romeo, will supply me a new key, cut and coded for..............
are you ready for this ......... drum roll please............
650pounds in your money !!!!!!!!!!!
AND i am NOT paying 650pounds in Norway for a dam key!!!!!!!!
now you can see why i am trying to do it the harder way
awsome, let me know how you get on with the trip to alfa
