Yep, I happened to have some handy and I wanted something that evaporated away quickly, which brake cleaner does.
In anycase, the internals were very clean straight out of the car, but the outside was filthy.
One thing to note, in my case I have a slow leak of what looks like oil all over the gearbox, but the drip was coming from the sele lines.. a conundrum because my sele fluid level has stayed perfectly constant for the last 2 years. However, whatever the source, the muck was there and the EV0 was coated in it.
If you have any dirt around that area, it's very important to make sure none of it gets into the system when you remove the valve. Particularly when you reinsert the valve.. so make sure the surrounding area is clean. Be doubly careful, whilst cleaning, that you don't get any dirt in the actuator.
