147 - Home servicing
We've been to look at a 147 2.0 TS Lusso (2002) today as a replacement for our A3 and are very keen to take the plunge (subject to sorting out the stupid inflated price and some minor mechanical and cosmetic issues).
Whatever we buy has to be capable of having the routine stuff done at home (oil changes, plugs, filters, brake pads/ discs etc) as we don't want to spend a fortune on garage bills for a lower mileage doing 2nd car that we'll be keeping for a few years.
I'm a reasonably competent home mechanic don't know that much about the Alfa's mechanicals and how easy it is to get at stuff and haven't been able to look at one up in the air / with the engine covers off.
Can anyone pass (helpful) comment?
Also anyone know the cost of a cambelt change and mileage off the top of their head? This one's done 50k and I'm guessing isn't far off a belt change.
PS apologies if this has been done to death (or in the wrong place) I did have a bit of a search around but couldn't spot anything obvious.
