147 1.6 engine worx

Hello people

Due to my car having reached 200000km (and a serious oil addiction problem), I decided to overhaul the engine and any other items. This has turned out to be an amazingly expensive exercise, but necessary I suppose...

As I was removing head accessories, I noticed that the cam lobes looked strange, and after having removed them, was quite shocked to see 6 lobes very badly worn, with the lobes almost completely gone on 3 of them...

The thing is, it had developed a bit of morning smoking over the past half year, so we thought this was due to worn valve stem seals, as we already replaced the rings, so had them replaced. This was done about 10000km ago. At that time, the cams were perfect..so the question is, did the engineering dude do something wrong when he replaced the stem seals, that caused the wearing?? Or did the serious oil usage cause the wear? ps with serious I mean about 1 litre in 400km, there were a few times when the oil level reached below the minimum mark on the dipstick, but never lower.

Everything should be fine now when it is running again, it would just be interesting to know why the heavy wearing of the lobes?
