Seems that some radios require code and some not. Maybe on a 156, but it never happened to me on a 147. The code should be required only if you wire the radio to a different Alfa. When you hook it on a different car with different body computer It should as for code on first turn on. You can disconnect the battery or unplug the radio and it should never ask for code again till it is used on the same car. I did this many times both with Blaupunkt 937 high headunit and Connect NAV+ . Neither ever asked for code. But as I said, on 156 it might be different.
