156 - naff radio

We now have a 156 Sportwagon 2002, V6. The radio is c**p. It's a Pioneer, original or not I don't know (no handbook); any recommendations on a replacement.

All we need is AM/FM with, possibly, a CD player.

I have been using Pioneers for the last 12 years, reliable and great sound. I have strayed a couple of times to Sony and Clarion, both a load of rubbish.

I would have said replace with a low end pioneer if you just want basic functions as it will sound good.

Try Car Audio Direct for car stereo, subwoofers, amplifiers, car speakers, CD players. used them for all sorts over the years they are very good with the advice too if you are not sure what you want. Also i think they have a sale on at the mo......

If it sounds crappy it might just be badly installed

Never had a problem with pioneer ice, probably one of the best of the popular brands, but the standard speakers are schite, replaced mine recently, easy job too if you get the right size

Original radio would have been either Alpine or Blaupunkt, made specially to fit the shape of the dash. Neither were very good, to be honest. When you say the radio is naff, do you mean generally, or are you saying the reception is bad? 156's often have aerial problems.

Kenwood make some great systems. I managed to get one with Bluetooth hands free built into the interface for around 140 including VAT and delivery!
