Well, the Alfa156 forum technically speaking
Quite right - but it is the one I remember.
Anyway, I have sourced my faulty component using the hot finger technique
No, it was not too bad as long as it was not left draining my battery for too long.
I have a tail light thats on permanently as opposed to the brake light listed in the alfa156 forum, however, for all interested parties, the rev counter component layout is slightly different but the OSR tail light IC is the one on the far right of the pcb as in the linked pictures above ( nect to yellow capacitor ).
I aso notice that there are a lot of 'dry' joints on the pcb and connector pins.
I am going to re solder those to see if that helps before replacing the VND810M.
The only confusion I have is that the VND810M is for the higher wattage 21W brake light according to the datasheet and the VND830M is supposed to be for lower wattage circuits @ 5W i.e. tail lights.
Never mind I will see if my tail light goes out when I take out the 180M.
