GT JTD clutch damper
Hi folks, This is my 1st post but I've found the forum invaluable in solving some 'issues' with my 2005 GT. My clutch has been feeling inconsistent for a few weeks, sometimes slipping under hard acceleration after driving in town and the pedal feeling different, having a different bite point etc. It finally gave up the ghost this morning and suspecting the slave cylinder after losing fluid I struggled for an hour to remove the battery tray to find it as dry as a bone. I did however notice the damper was leaking as it was split on the end, for about a quarter of it's circumference. From what I've read on here it's happened because my clutch is in need of replacement so I'll get that done asap. Until then, has anyone experienced any problems with bypassing the damper using a piece of brake pipe and the correct fittings? I can't really see the point of it's existence and at £45 for a replacement they're not cheap, especially when I'm about to shell out for a clutch!!
