Alfa 156 1.8 TS

This idle problem people are having... I don't have an issue with that, however if I'm driving along and I put my foot on the clutch, and hold it. It drops revs to around 500 then sort of bounces up to about 2 thousand then drops down to 500 and back up over and over again. Now normaly I'd just do a throttle reset but I'm thinking maybe this could be an ECU thing as it is an Alfa :P

Any suggestions peeps?

Regards.

After the 15min idle phase and let the car rest for 10 mins do you leave the key in or remove it?

as far as i am aware this ecu reset wipes memory of ecu and returns ecu to basic default settings
when starting the engine it starts self learning ,cars that seem to have a new lease of life in IMHO is the knock sensor, and as miles clock up this gets closer to optimum

if there is a fault in sensors these will be logged and only can be read with diagnostics

i did the ecu reset and it was good for a day or two, then it all went wrong and now i've lost so much power i struggled to blow off a pug 206, how embarrassing. using way loads more fuel and got flat spots all over the range, i disconnected the maf and took it out for a drive and as i've been advised, it was back to its old self in power but cut out everytime i dipped the clutch. so now i'm sure the maf is buggered. engine light is on too so i'll change the sensor asap. does anyone know where i can get a good quality cheap one?

Hope it works for you, cheers,

Tried the ECU reset today. Even changed the battery while I was at it. The MCSF light is still on after the reset

Hi All. I've got a 2002 156 1.6 TS. A few months ago I had to call on my insurance breakdown assistance service to have the battery replaced. The original had finally given up the ghost, having given its all.

Anyway, since the battery was changed the EOBD warning light is constantly on. I'm just wondering if this is just a glitch caused by changing the battery. Has anyone else experienced this? It definitely wasn't appearing until the battery died and was replaced. It also appears to be on for no good reason. The car is driving perfectly.

Will this 'ECU' reset trick work to cancel the warning light?

This may go out on its own ,, mine did , if not get it diagnosed, this will bring up any fault codes.
