You didn't get it entirely straight, AlfaLincs. You see my mother sold her car (and her only mode of transport), and added the extra cash, to fund my fathers Alfa (and all it's repairs/upgrades etc.) so that gives her a minor say in the final product. Red leather wasn't either of their ideal trim colour but, after eleven months and many viewings/test drives, this car was almost exactly what he wanted. The fact that my mother knew that she would hardly ever get to drive the Alfa, and now relies on my fathers co-operation to go anywhere (which he sometimes refuses to do, depending on his mood) means we should 'cut her a little slack', eh? The red leather is still in the car and is starting to 'grow' on them both, probably as the outside looks so good though. They both know what my wife means about the 'look back' factor now (she can't walk away from her red 156 20v without 'looking back' to admire it.. just as well after all the trouble it has caused us).
