156 subframe refitted - now a steering problem!
Firstly Happy Xmas!!
I have a 2001 156 2.4 JTD Sportwagon. It had a knocking noise from the front end. I replaced the front anti roll bar and the front droplinks by dropping the subframe. It was a real pain, working by myself and with no pit, it turned into a bit of a mammoth job!! I suppose it would have been quicker had a few bolts not stripped themselves. I replaced a CV boot while the access was good. Anyway, the knocking problem was solved, however, there is a difference in the way the steering now feels. It is less responsive and feels a bit heavier. Also, the steering wheel is not central any more, it is angled off slightly, but noticeable. I am wondering whether the subframe going back on at a slightly different angle would or could cause this? I had the front N/S suspension in bits, I did not split the track rod ends, also the steering rack bolts were a complete pig to get back in. Any idea's gratefully received. Thanks in advance.
