Engine knock/knocking in reverse on GT
Greetings all! I have an issue with my V6 '05 GT, where there is a knock/knocking sound from the engine/engine-bay when I engage the clutch in reverse. If I engage the clutch really gently there is no noise at all, but if I engage it normally or agressively there is a knock/shake from the bay that would normally tell me that the engine mounts are not secured OR are not set appropriately.
I've read other threads about engine mounts, where people have vigorously shaken the top of the engine to find excessive movement in the top mount, but mine is as solid as a ....! Therefore, can someone tell me whether the bottom mounts(?) or something in the suspension/transmission is loose? I'd love to get a steer from one of you (pardon the pun) as to what might be causing this, to prevent any open cheque books for Alfa should I book it into a dealership for a diagnosis.
Just in case it helps, there is no evidence of noise, etc. from the engine bay at all when engaging 1st, etc. Only reverse.
Thanks for your time all! Please let me know!
