147 steering rack and cranshaft oil seal
hey guys, was waiting to go and pick up a 1.6 147 that i have put a deposit on. its came to £2,300 in black with 55,000 miles on it.
we asked him to do a service and investigate into a knocking noise that we found when turning the wheel back and fourth.
he discovered that it needs a new steering rack and once it was up on the racks the 'main oil seal' is leaking.
he basically said that he would give us our deposit back and work out what hes going to do with the car later.
would it be worth us phoning back and making him an offer?
would either be hard/ expensive to do ourselves or at a dealer?
could the oil seal be done at the same time as the cambelt?
what would you say i sould offer him and would it be driveable for a short amount of time?
