Geez I love this Forum. It's always so useful and easier to find out this sort of stuff rather than going through a dealer. My wife's Mercedes (admittedly quite an old one) just pops up a STATIC warning light regardless of what bulb has failed, so I always used to show off the prowess of my Alfa 156 that gave a warning for (as I remember) any bulb that failed... including main headlamp/dipped beam. Even better was the fact that the warning light only came on whilst the failed bulb was MEANT to be on... unlike the Merc. So, pump the brake with a failed brake light and the bulb warning light would flash! Again, unlike the Merc. How nice that Alfa, the manufacturer reputed to have such crap electronics, would make such a good warning system, until...
Now, here I am with my GT and I'm getting oncoming drivers flashing and waving to me early mornings and late at night. Hey, they must be congratulating me on my attractive purchase and declaring how nice they think it looks. But, no! They can't be. It's dark, so they can't actually see the car! So, what could it be? I'm wondering this until I pull into a petrol station and see my reflection in the kiosk window. I'm driving a one-eyed monster! Why isn't my legendary warning system telling me the main headlamp's gone, when a few weeks ago it told me that the rear-reg illumination light was dead? Well, a quick look at the forum would certainly fill in the gaps! So, THANKS all!
All that's left now is to browse other threads to find out what people recommend as the replacement bulb of choice and to reserve an entire weekend to fit the bloody thing! Cheers!
