Valve Guide Replacement

I have taken the plunge into Alfa ownership and bought a GTV and a 156, both of which suffered nadgered cam belts.

I have stripped the heads of both, and on the 2.0 4 of the valve guides are split, looking at a picture of the guide it looks like it is pressed upwards out of the head.

Has anyone out there done this, does the head need heating? do I need a special tool, I was going to turn up a shouldered pin and use it as a drift.

Any information would be gratefully appreciated.

various Alfas

The guides are pressed downwards out of the head, but it isnt really a diy job.
You need to either freeze the guides or warm the head,a guide inserting tool and a press.
After you have inserted the new guides you need valve seat cutting tools so you can recut the seats in the ports with the new guides.
