Cold weather warning for 147 - frozen brake linkage
Had a nasty experience with my 2003 2.0L 147 today....
As you may be aware, it's snowing lots down in the south east at the moment.
I went to the shops today to do some christmas shopping, came out the car park and started to drive up the road and realised that the car had become massively tail-happy.
I quickly figured out this was because the rear brakes had frozen on (Presumably because of the handbrake linkage). The effect was essentialy like driving the car in one continous handbrake turn....on ice. Not fun.
Fortunately it was only a 5 minute drive home. When got home I found the left rear brake disc was SMOKING and smelt like it was about to catch fire.
So first..a warning to all 147 drivers,,because if this happens and you don't notice before you reach a motorway you're gonna have one helluva accident.
And second..has anyone else have this problem and have a fix for it?
