The a/r bars aren't expensive ... but you will have to change the rear bar too or you will upset the handling (less roll at front, more at rear).
But they are a real PITA to fit as you have to drop the subframe ... so factor in around 6-8 hours labour! Although Veloces price is very competitive £195 plus VAT! plus cost of bar.
Just try the drop links to start with. Also check the upper wishbones. The balljoint, bushes and even the mounting bolt are all subject to wear.
If you can, disconnect one end of both droplinks and tie them and the a/r bar up so they can't get caught in anything and go for a short, gentle drive. If the knocking goes, then it's a/r bar related. If it isn't then it's the wishbones or lower arms.
