By petrol 147 the 2,0 TS came with and 1,6 TS without undercover. And the engine bays are virtually the same. My is without the cover for 7 years and the engine bay doesnt get dirty, sump is not scratched or anything.
And if you have some small leak in the engine you can notice some marks on the ground but with engine cover it may go unnoticed until big problem occures. Cooling is better too. The advantage might be in aerodynamics, but if you dont do a lot of high speed highway runs its questionable as well. Protection might be a reason to have one, maybe the aluminum one, but I can hardly believe that the thin self-breaking Alfa plastic one will really protect the sump or exhaust if you hit the ground.
If you have one, keep it in place. If you dont have it and really want it, go for aluminum one and not original Alfa.
