GT JTDm stiff clutch sorted, for now.

With one day remaining on my Alfa warranty, I complained to them that my 06 GT 26k clutch had got stiffer since I brought it,They agreed, and got it sorted out for me under warranty.
The mechanic knew of the problem and said it was very common. Basically he said that the clutch fork sits in bushes in the bellhousing and they corrode/clog and partially seize up.
I am a competant mechanic and I was sceptical. They very kindly stripped it all out on the bench and showed me the problem, also the release bearing gets very dirty and binds on the shaft. The solution was a new clutch fork and modifided bushes. Wilst the gearbox was out I got them to open up the pull type clutch. I examined the clutch plates, they showed minimal wear, but I paid for a new one at that oppertunity and got it fitted for free.(normally 500-700)The diagnoses as far as I was concerned was spot on.
Result, a normal car clutch not heavy or notchy at all.
