Front suspension on Alfie my new 156
On buying my 53 156 Veloce with a knocking noise on the passengers front side I took it to a local garage to investigate. Our friend and mechanic works here and believes I should have bought a vauxhall....Yuck!. Too boring. My partner said it can't be too much of a problem!
The garage that sold it kept quiet!
The "nutters" who owned it before had spent over £700 on parts for new upper and lower wishbones but the problem was simple....the long bolt attaching the antiroll bar to the chasis had stripped the captive nut welded to the chasis. I guess in all the repairs and attempts to fix an ***** front suspension problem they ran out of ideas. They had damaged the bolt and could not own up to a bodge job.
Simple for us to fix.....but this nut is not available from *****.
Luckily I live in the Dales and our local ironmongers made a new nut with their expertise and CNC machine from 1956!!!!, the garage welded it and I have the most fantastic perfect ***** you could buy.
I have driven many cars, many makes and my ***** is just the best.
