Safer to get the belt and tensioner changed and get peace of mind.

Powergrip is not an original belt.

However the belt needs changing along with the tensioners every 3 years or 36,000 miles so if you don't know when it was last done it would be best to get it changed ASAP, As If it snaps you will have a very big bill.

It is also worth changing the variator, and possibly the waterpump whilst the belt is off.

I'd agree with symon that its not an original belt - depends on a number of things - ie what engine type (diesel and V6 have different change intervals, and what mileage and age the car is.

The "safe" answer is if you don't know, change it.....but despite being an Alfa parts specialist I don't routinely change belts on every car I have......guess I must be a gambler......and why my everyday runner is a chaingang 164
