hmm, ive been watching it carefully over the last few days - the original problem was, low power in low revs...kinda blocked feeling acceleration, similar to what you described for the MAP dying, or a blocked EGR valve.
Then yesterday it changed - it started doing the behaviour you mentioned for the MAF - couldnt rev over 3000 revs AT ALL, struggled to do 50mph on the motorway....then on a later journey, it was more freely accelerating again, and then half way through the journey it had the yellow light..motor control system failure come up...and since then has stayed for the last couple of (short) journeys ive made.
Since motor control failure, it hasn't done the "i cant rev above 3000rpm" thing but still seems a bit blocked and rubish at low revs....
Obviously '\I'm going to have to take it to the garage - it's actually due a cambelt now as well, so could be pricey, but would just like to be armed with as much knowledge as possible for when I take it in....does anyone have any good advice?
Really appreciate it, thanks
Could it be the inlet manifold? Or is it just sensors playing up ? I read that the inlet manifold is a cambelt off job, so wouldnt be a bad thing to look for when I get the cambelt done?
