Can I come in? New 156 owner...
Some of you know me form the GTV lounge already and my need to swap my GTV for something bigger. The 156 is actually the mother ship but I also get to do the afternoon school runs in it too! So anyway, I digress... Went to Madrid on Sunday via high speed train to pick up a 156 1.6 TS and drove the 670kms back home in the south taking some 7 hours in the process, one rabbit cull, and only three quarters of a tank of fuel averaging 120/130 kph all the way. Really nice drive albeit a bit bumpy on some of the concrete highways south of Madrid what with the stiffened suspension but all in all, a very comfy and enjoyable drive home.
So we now have a very well looked after 156 1.6 TS of 1999 vintage in freshly painted nero 601 livery. One very fussy owner (bought from a friend) who has fettled and taken care of it no expenses spared. Interior is a mix of lusso wood trim and a series of aftermarket Momo goodies including a rather spotless deep blue Momo leather interior taken from a series 2. 161,000 kms on the clock with FSH including T belt, oil, filters, tyres.... well, just about anything you can imagine has been serviced including water pump and variator in the last year.
Suspension upgrade is a bit harsh but I have the original springs should the missus nag me enough about it. It runs on standard 205x55x16 but has Novitec lowered springs and Koni adjustable shocks that I need to tune a bit to get it as I like as I think it's a bit too stiff in the rear making it a bit too nervous for the wife.
So basically, after a Sud, Alfetta, GTV6, 2 x 33's, 3 x164's (still got number 3) and a GTV, I am now the proud owner of a 156 and well pleased with it!!! Pics are the for sale pics so I will take some of my own shots soon and post them in the images lounge...
