Help error messages and some strange brake behaviour

Hi im in need of some assistance, I have a 53 plate 1471.9 jtd mjet 16v.

Had the car m.o.t'd a week ago (tracking adjusted and rear brake pads fitted). Since its been tested Im getting judder thru the brake pedal (feels like the abs is snatching at the discs and worst when braking gently) also the car is lunging a little under engine braking when you lift off the throttle. If i turn off the ASR system the lunging stops, after a while i get an ABS /VCD failure message on the display and the brakes then start behaving normally (been happening more often and usually when its dark and raining etc so I think part of the problem is the battery). Battery is the original one so i've ordered another should be here friday.

Anyone got any ideas is it sensors not being reset after the pads changhed or something more drastic?
