Righty hopefully a simple question here!
For the past month or so, my 147 has the sound of a diesel on start up. So I know this means my variator is on the way out. Correct me if im wrong, but to change the variator would require the timing belt and aux belt to be removed to allow the change?
Next may my car is due its 6 year service, which includes changing all the belts.
My question is this, given you need to remove all the belts to change the variator, would I be ok in leaving the change until that service? So in around 6 months time?
I dont want to run the risk of my engine exploding, but, equally, I do not want to take the car into a garage just to change the variator if it includes taking all the belts off. As I would rather leave that until its scheduled service!
I think I will be ok leaving it, but I wanted to get some additional opinions from you guy's who may/may not have had this dilemma too!
Hopefully all that makes sense!
