Changing oil...

As I created this thread, I used the handy "similar thread" feature to check related posts... now with all this talk of oil changes/types, thought I'd throw another question.

As I check my oil fairly often (usually every week) I notice that it's black on the dipstick, to me I've always assumed this is normal?

However, reading some threads would make you think it's not and would only be black if the oil was old/contaminated/dirty or cause by another issue?

So... if you're doing weekly top ups, it's going to still be black right? unless you do a full change?

Or should it be coming through clear with the new stuff you put in?

The oil will turn black quite quickly after a change.
So yes it will still look black during your weekly check/topup unless you do a full change.
