I think any sane person will accept that the 2.0TS is a fundamentally flawed engine in todays world. It produces less power than (most) equivelent sized engines despite being over complicated (variators and balancer shafts!). It is also more expensive to maintain, especially now that fiat recognise that the belts don't last. Uses too much oil (and petrol) and is heavy to boot. I agree that the sound is infectious but any engine's induction can be tuned for that rather than quietness. When we first got ours, admittedly brand new and not yet run in, I thought it was broken because I was always having to change down to find any pull (things never got significantly better really!). The rover K was a very advanced angine in its day, but it came and went as most engines do it is about time the TS is retired as well.
