How many Lambda sensors are there?
My 2.5 V6 156 has failed the MOT, one of the items was emmissions slightly over the maximum. The tester said that the catalyser was ok and it is probably the lambda sensor.
AlfaDiag has shown the following fault code:
Failed Component Code: Lambda Sensor #1 Heater
Warning Lamp Status: Warning Lamp not Illuminated
Fault Test State: Test not complete for this Error.
Fault Code Storage State: Error Present at time of request
Event Count: 64 count
Filter Count: 0 count
Environmental Condition One: Engine Speed: 21 rpm"
This fault returns after clearing.
Also from the sensor tab is a flag "true" for the lambda sensor being open circuit.
My confusion comes from studying the e-learn manual which seems to show a total of five lambda sensors, one located where the manifold pipes join and the others before and after the cats.
Am I misunderstanding this? Is #1 the one at the manifold join?
On top of this confusion, when I look in Shop4Parts for a new one they list six at different prices! Which one do I need?
Finaly, when I measure the resistance between pins 3 and 4 of the above sensor it reads 7 ohms which is near the spec given in e-learn, so is it faulty at all? Is there a fuse in the circuit which may give the open circuit reading if blown. I can't one if there is.
Wow, reading what I've just written it sounds complicated but any help would be appreciated.
