147 gear change problems
I have a 2.0 147, which has been standing for a few months while I've been away...(not prison, actually away!!! :-)).
Anyway, the gear shift was really stiff moving the lever from left to right, and difficult to move into first.(I have to push the lever firmly to the left against the far side of the gate, and sometimes shift into second then forward into first). The car was fine before it was left standing.
I have cleaned and lubed the bushes in the gear selector plate and the lever now moves freely left/right. When a gear is engaged, there is quite alot of movement at the lever, which I can probably live with, but first gear is still difficult to engage. The oil level is fine, there is no bearing noise from the gearbox and the car drives smoothly with no clutch slip.
I was wondering if there was any adjustment on the gear shift cables, or what I need to replace to sort out the shifting problem.
