I posted a problem a week or so ago regarding battery drain over a couple of days.
I suspected the new stereo and was going to reconfigure the ISO cable this weekend but, events have taken a turn for the worse!
I'd recharged the battery and put it back into the car so that I could go out last night and again, all was OK.
I was driving back along the A2 when without any warning I was suddeny presented with a display full of warning and ignition lights!
The engine died and I coasted onto the hard shoulder.
There was also a weird smell, if anything, a slightly 'fishy' smell!
I had a quick check around but couldn't see anything obvious.
I called the AA and the patrol guy was there pretty quick.
I explained about the battery situation; he just said that it "could be a number of things... it is an Alfa mate"!
He checked for a signal at the coil packs while turning the starter, there wasn't any present. We couldn't hear the fuel pump prime either.
He checked all of the fuses he could find under the bonnet, but nothing seemed to have blown. He's spot diagnosis, could be a relay, could be the ECU!
As it was late, I was towed home. After he left I checked the fuses under the driver's side of the dash... I did find one blown fuse, a brown 7.5 amp fuse amonst the small cluster of fuses above the main cluster, but didn't have a spare one to try.
I had the car towed to the garage this morning (the battery was flat again!) but the mechanic can't start looking at it until tuesday.
So, any ideas guys?
The radio thing seems to have been a coincidence!
