Some random questions for the mechanically minded!

Hi all,

Just a few questions to ask if anyone can help me out with these...!....

Firstly, my front anti-roll bar has started to oscillate, causing a horrific knocking noise when pulling away. I have had this replaced before, but was seriously thinking of doing this myself this time, but do the wishbones have to come off the car to remove the bar, and does the bar come straight out underneath the car (from the bottom), or does it come out from the side?

Secondly, I have heard some horror stories regarding powerflexing the bushes on the lower wishbones. Is this really not advisable, even when fitting genuine arms? I also cannot remember if when removing the lower wishbones, the balljoint on the upper wishbones has to be split? (I'm not sure how many times a balljoint can be split before it has had it - I have just fitted new upper arms that's all!)

Thirdly, has anyone had issues with the dipped beam lights on their 156? I'm 99% sure that my headlights are aligned correctly, although they are so dim it is unbelievable, and literally light up about 5 metres of the road! Not ideal for these dark nights, so was perhaps thinking of buying some of the ultra-bright blue tints ones from Halfords???

Any advice greatly appreciated! Many thanks!

For the first one, it sounds to me like you need some new ARB bushes not an new Anti roll bar.

Cant help with powerflex bushes, as I have never tried them.

Dim 156 lights are normal. I wouldn't bother with blue ones, but get some Philips Extreme power or Osram Nightbreakers.

They will make vast improvement.

Whatever you do though make sure you get branded bulbs, not some random +50% etc bulbs from ebay. I have been there, and they are useless.

You can split ball joints any number of times with no problems.
