Starting - any ideas
This will be the third winter that I have owned my Alfa and it has always fired up first time. At present when the outside temperature is about 6 or 7 degrees it tries to fire the first time and doesnít quite catch but if the key is held over fires the second time.
On one occasion it fired on the third attempt and up popped MCSF which cleared after three starts during the day.
If I turn off when it doesnít fire first time, wait a second and then try again it fires up.
At no other time do I have problems. I can leave it all day and starting is no problem at the moment.
Started to check around and noted battery was showing it required a charge, the alternator was newish and the charging voltage ok but it was the original battery so I changed it.
This didnít solve the problem but it did affect a few things- the alarm stopped giving me the occasional second beep when setting it, the trip mileage on the speedo was same as the central display whereas before the speedo had always been slightly behind and now the temp gauge was reading lower.
Took the plunge and changed the temp sender and stat, left battery disconnected for ages to allow ECU reset and also carried out the throttle reset as part of the job.
Still the same however, any suggestions.
Thanks in anticipation
