147 Hand Brake Problems ?

On our previous car ( Alfa 145 Cloverleaf ) we had major problems with the hand brake freezing on during the winter months. We've recently bought a 147 and I was hoping Alfa may have rectified the problem, have I grounds for optimism or must I tell my wife NOT to pull the hand brake on all the way when it's likely to be frosty ?
This a great site but it's as idiosyncratic as an Alfa , I posted this message once and it just vanished into the ether, I think. Thanks.

Never Happened

It's never happened to me - I don't think there's anything to worry about
