No heater fan in facelift 156???

I wonder if anyone can shed any light on my faulty fan.

The 156 is a facelift 55 plate Turismo, so just manual AC, but seems to be electronically controlled. Anyway, the fan was working when I bought it, but three weeks later it has stopped. I've checked fuses, but all are OK.

I assume the motor is in the passenger footwell? Any common problems before I start pulling it apart?

Cheers, Kevin

It didn't work with any combo of the controls.

However, it is now fixed!

I don't know quite why it now works, but here's what I did...

Unplugged the large cables that run to the fan itself, connected the fan to 12v from the cig socket, and it made a few clonks and noises and then started spinning OK. I then put the wiring back as it started, and it works again!!

I guess this means the fan motor is on its way out. Car has only done 28k which seems a bit poor, but there you go...

I think I need to chage the pollen filter - i read on here that it's not on the dealer service - but I know from other cars that when they start to get clogged, the heater components start to overheat and break, so that's next I think...
