OK next job on my list is the oil leaks of which there appear to be 2.
The first (and biggest one) is dripping from the back of the sump in the area of the drain plug. This is particularly bad when the oil is warm.
The history of this is that the seller says he clouted a speed bump and it's leaked since then.
Now I've not jacked the thing up high enough yet to have a proper good look but from what I can see there is no obvious damage to the bottom of the sump. Just the area around the sump plug is oily and it's dripping from there.
I'm wholly expecting a cracked sump for this one.
The second one is at the front of the engine. It's dripping from the lowest point of the lower front engine bracket (driver side). When I had to unbolt this during my belt change
, I discovered just how oily it was underneath the power steering pump. In fact the bolt holes for the bolts that hold the engine bracket to the block via the power steering pump were absolutely full of oil and I mean when I removed them oil came running out.
The most obvious culprit would be the oil filter, as it is directly above this. Unless there's anything else hidden away in this area that it may be leaking from?
All ideas welcome and I'll let you know when I find out
