Plannign on cleaning my engine bay this weekend and just want to be sure of the best way, read all the threads and there are some conflicting views. This website seams to think it will be fine to wash the bay after degreasing, but many threads oppose this idea...
Engine Detailing (Clean, Degrease, Protect) | How-to Guide
Also another issue is that one needs to suitable protect the parts after degreasing to avoid corrosion and rust, many recommend this product...
Sonus Trim & Motor Kote
So I thought my plan of attack would be clean with this:
Autoglym Engine Cleaner
Then use WD40 to maintain movement and remove and squeeks and take off any other dirt.
Then use the Sonus Trim & Motor Kote to prevent rust and corrosion.
Also none of these stages would include water - too scared to pour water over it. Im guessing a lot of elbow grease is needed!!!
also a lot of people recommend the following:
engine degreasent,STP Sun of a Gun,Acidic Pickling Paste,small paint brush,Green M3 Scotch pad,WD4, turtle wax's engine cleaner
Could someone please give me a clear and direct approach to this, want it to be perfect and safe!
