Should I get rid?
I've owned my 156 for just over 3 years now, and I'm sorely tempted to get rid. Mainly because it's a 2.4JTD, which I've been told "don't go wrong", and hence when mine does, I can't get used parts for it (eg a sump and a rev counter). Every panel has a scratch or dent of some kind in it, and I've been quoted around £1200 to get the bodywork back up to scratch (mates rates - a friend has a bodyshop). At the moment it is sat on axle stands after the wife hit a traffic island and cracked the sump. It's gonna cost a couple hundred quid for the repair, which is a bit of a bodge as it's a weld, not a replacement. The last MoT wasn't too bad, but there were 26 advisory notes on it, which add up to a hell of a lot more work. I'll have a go at DIYing bits of it, but I am no mechanic, and have a limited tool kit. To get it looking respectable and running well will cost me more than it could ever now be worth, so my question is, is it worth the time, money and effort, or should I just sell it as a spares/repair jobby? If so, is anyone interested?
