The old one is fine Mike, would you like it sending up?
As for the downshifting, this is possibly what killed the other box, I thik this is a driving style issue and not any part of the car. The sele system will always put itself in the idle gear to acelerate out of a corner after braking, if you then go and downshift manualy you not only run the risk of melting the synchros, but also throwing a rod out the block as the engine overspeeds. Try leaving the stick alone as you go into the corners and keep your hands on the wheel, as you leave the corner boot it and then just go up as required, because the sele was never intended to need a down selection when racing.
So with braking I should find myself in the right gear and rev range ??
I have found the revs drop too low then but will try again, I like to keep the revs above 3500 or I find the power lagging when coming out of corners, I will try your suggestion and see what that gives. You guys do not need me to tell you that the engine comes alive above 4000. I do not want to sound like a p***k that is the reason for asking advice.
Also which track is it? Crail, Knockhill??? that hairpin at the bottom f the hill is a killer at Knocky.
Knockhill is less than 10 minutes away from me and you can get on regularly and booking in advance saves fair bit of money, the hairpin is good for both brake and tyre wear
I keep getting totally embarrassed by the Exiges
Crail is the thrash area for the standing 1/4 and 1/2 mile , much younger crowd up there but some very good drivers.
Having Castle Coombe 15 minutes away and Thruxton only 45 mins from me is so tempting, but puting a 1.6 on the track would be too embarrasing for all the Porkers and Bimmers, epecially if I left the roof box and trailer on her.
