Madness Fuel Theft - Drilled hole in fuel tank

Woke up this morning to find an empty fuel tank and a small hole drilled in the bottom of it! There's been a spate of fuel siphoning thefts in my area (Wimbledon) the police said but the real issue is going to be repairing the damage.

Does anyone know if it is possible to 'patch up' damage like this or will I need to completely replace the fuel tank?

I drive a 147 1.9 Diesel.

If the 147 diesel tank is anything like the 156 petrol one, it's made of plastic, and a small hole should be patchable.

Needs to be done properly though. Diesel spills are lethal in the wet!
