Porridge Stick

Had a look a tidy 51 plate 147 2.0l locally today. One thing that put me of was the gear stick had a lot of sideways play through the gears. Is this due to a wore linkage or a sign of something more severe?

There are problems with the gear linkage but it doesn't seem to be an indication of worse things to come.
I don't think you'll cure it completely without replacing the various joints etc.

I just lifted the gear-stick gaiter and filled up the linkage with WD40, once that had soaked away I put grease into the top moving part.

This did the trick bit after a few months you'll have to do it again.

Its prob the links by the gear box. They may have been popped off to do a clutch change maybe and now they are a bit loose. There should def not be lots of sidways play. I can imagine you could pick up the bits from autolusso for not to much.
