Plastic wheel arch liners?

Hello everybody,
As I mentioned in my intro, I'm collecting my new-to-me 147 atthe end of this week.
As part of the sale, I've arranged with the dealer to give the car a comprehensive underbody sealing, to prevent rust problems due to the winter salt etc. (the car is from 2005, with 44000km and no sealing was done from new).
I'm considering asking them to fit a set of plastic wheel arch liners, sine the felt ones as standard would seem to be very good at promoting rust.

Is this worth while or am I being obsessive?

It is Italian, therefor it rusts... sadly.

Lessons have not been learnt and corners are being cut.... again.
