1.9JTD 8V engine dies above 3000RPM

Hi guys,

i just bought a 1.9JTD with 85KW. (156 SW)
So far i'm pretty happy with the car, the engine pulls well on lower revs and uses quite a lot less fuel than my V6....
But I am a little confused.
The Tachometer will go up to 5000RPM (where the Redline starts).
But the Engine does not really rev anywhere near it, not even in 3rd gear.
It seems the thing starts to die at anything above 3000RPM, and i mean it, acceleration in 3rd is nearly zero once 90kph is reached (3rd)... it's like the thing is not getting enough air. Is this normal? Still the car pulls well even in the higher gears at anything between 1800 and 3000RPM.

On the Motorway the car can do 190kph, but that's it (maybe 15minutes later it will do 195...).
It should do 191 according to Alfa Romeo.

Any help is appreciated

Selling a Brembo Upgrade for 156's, Project Mu Pads (New) and fitting brake lines (new).

Sounds like you have split boost hoses.

It would be a very small hole, as anything larger would sound like a hair dryer.

Could it be MAF? or maybe just give it a new air-filter and a dose of fuel treatment, Diesel Forté
