Have finally sorted my non-starting prob
...... but almost too embarrassed to admit to the cause
was spot on with - "Or you haven't connected the battery correctly" aided and abetted by davealfa11
with - "when you turn key does the starter click?" Well, being decent weather in Essex (for a change), I decided to have one last go @ sorting my non-starter, b4 calling in the mobile auto electrics/tuner guy.
My approach to work problems like this (Iím an accountant), is to undo what is done, and redo starting from scratch. The sunny day certainly helped, as I pushed my alfa out of the dark garage (not connected to electricity mains), and went to undo all the connections to the battery. Then I saw the red positive lead hidden under some other pipes, etc (where I had pushed it the other day, so as not to come near any battery poles) whilst lifting batt out of the engine bay! Doh! wacked it on to the + connection, tightened the nut up, turned the key and started first time
BTW, thanks to everyone else who posted their comment s on here!
Will be buying a new battery tho', as it would be an understatement to even say it was on it's "last legs". So have narrowed it down to a "Solite 027" or will push the boat out and go for a " Varta 560 409 054" ..... any other suggestions or comments welcome!
