I don't know about the UK and Austria now, but second hand cars are going up not down in value as people are buying so many less new cars! SH cars in Ireland have always been expensive, but this is going up purely because people cannot afford new cars during the current financial situation.
As to high mileage, I think the same goes for any make, if you look after them, serviced regularly, any work needed done, then cars tend to have a long life!
I am on 127,000 for a late 2001/2002 156 1.8Ts its on its 3rd cambelt and will shortly be getting a new one!
